...What is the difference between bean paste and crushed beans? Because in my experience, crushed beans plus boiling equals bean paste.

I remember a meme of the general form "Yo dawg, I heard you liek ____ so I ____ in ____" from somewhere.

Yo Mamiya, I heard you liked mushed red bean soup so I put crushed red beans in your red bean paste soup with ground red beans in it...

I would suppose it's like the difference between when you dice something with a knife by hand versus putting it in the blender. One has larger, recognizable chunks left over, and the other is a liquid slurry that will disappear into the sauce completely but for the flavor.
