For reference: In Shinto lore, the White Hare of Inaba (Tewi) got in trouble for tricking a bunch of sharks, who paid her back by skinning her and tossing her into the forest. Later on, she would try to trick the God of Storms, Susano-o into getting it back for her by claiming innocence.

Do they have fire hydrants in Japan ? I thought that was an American thing. In Britain the water outlets are concealed under the roads.

How can there be a "later on" after you've been skinned by sharks?

Okuninushi helped the rabbit and healed it. That's why the Eientei rabbits are singing about Daikoku-sama, Okuninushi's other name.

She will definitely relate to that "Now I really hate sharks too" line.

It's not unique to US or NA, wikipedia has an examples of a Greek, Czech, and Filipino fire hydrants.

    Throw in tonight's Sharks-Oilers game as a follow-up.

Strange, I thought Susanoo gave it back to her, but salted it first to punish her. It's been ages since I read the Kojiki though, so I'm probably off. I have no idea where I would get it from then, though.
