What is the masterball for if not for Mewtwo? It's basically the "skip one fight with a legendary that has a tiny catch rate" item.

Shinies, roaming legendaries, shiny roaming legendaries.

I mean, you can just restart with "tiny catch rate". But try putting up "tiny chance for encounter" with that.

I used a Weavile in the HeartGold where its only damaging attack doesn't affect Dark types and I was free to False Swipe it down to 1HP for a somewhat easy catch.

Master Ball is either for shinies, as mentioned above, especially if you really want it and it can Flee from battle, Self Destruct, use Roar or something similar.
Or for your Team Leader just to be pimp about it. Hell, I don't care. I put a perma-Misdreavus in mine and said that's what the "M" on the ball stand for!
