Impact was so forceful it compacted the tissue in the arm so rapidly that all blood vessels burst. I would say the arm is pretty much decommissioned for the rest of the fight but on closer inspection of the characters, they probably have a high tolerance for pain and injury, most likely also being quick to regenerate.

It's a cool action shot, however, I'm confused how Hannah's fist found its way to Alexi's knee. A punch obviously takes less time than a small hop and a lift of the knee. An elbow block makes more sense to me.

You're not elbow blocking a low blow from someone notably shorter than you without bending over or crouching down, both of which give your opponent easy access to your face.

Normally you'd just counter(since the height difference usually translates to a reach difference and a blow to the head is more effective than one to the body, even if it turns into a trade...but Alexi isn't trying to kill her granddaughter.
