Zombie friend would be interesting to see. But still it's impossible since the Virus will most likely be the one to transform into a Friend. Or not?

We haven't seen any kind of unicellular Friends yet, despite virus, bacteria and whatnot teeming absolutely everywhere on soil and air. If exposure to Sandstar would turn any genetic material into Friends, what will we got from zombies are actually Human-type Friends.

I wish someone would replace Leon and Claire's in-game models with Arai-san and Fennec.

There aren't even insect Friends as far as I know. There are more than five times as many species of beetles alone than all vertibrate species combined, so that's an almost infinite well to draw from.

There are no fish Friends either. Amphibians seem to be the cutoff, so you might need to be a tetrapod. The sole Friend which COULD be considered a fish is the human-faced fish cryptid, but at that point you're not playing with the normal rules for Friendification anyway.

But we did have human faced fish friend? I'd really like to see Insect Friends. Would be very interesting to see what kind of the costume fashions they will wear. EDITED: We kinda have half fish Friends but mostly based on statues but does it count?

In the Shin Goji-chan comic, they were showing all the Friends' heights were ranked by their original forms' sizes (so Blue Whale was the tallest natural animal Friend), so I get the sense that insects would be loli Friends.

Well at first, I really believed smaller Friends equal to "loli" but it turned out it's not. Fennec Fox and Sand Cat are tiny animals and they became Friends on equal heights as other Friends.
Smaller birds who became Friends may give you the impression of how Loli they are but in anime, background ones share same heights. Even manga with Nana, Fennec Fox was revealed surprisingly she looked even more mature.
