It was one thing back when it was mild annoyance, but here it looks like Ai's actually going to belt her.

You know, it's all too possible that it's not so much the obsession with "skinship" with her that is making Ai-chan angry at Volley-bu-chan here, but rather that she's completely ignoring every other possible form of (wholesome) fun they could have throughout the day (the schedule dedicates six whole hours to that) in favor of being single-mindedly focused on the opportunities to indulge in said "skinship" (which comprises only 1 hour max of bath time and whatever few minutes they have after that before they actually fall asleep).

That's true, and very likely, but... hm. The doujin side story about these two (in the second volume, perhaps?) really puts this into a different perspective. Maybe it's just that, because this is their senior trip, Volley-chan is becoming more conscious of the fact that pretty soon Ai will graduate and (presumably) marry her boyfriend, and they won't see each other much anymore? I want to give Himura the benefit of the doubt and not just reduce Volley-chan to 'harasses her friend after being repeatedly told to stop'.

Agreed. The chapters she appears are arguably the worst of the series latel.

It's too bad, because she is actually pretty sweet. I just hope Himura isn't intentionally demonizing her.
