I would imagine that having to borrow someone's laptop for your presentation wouldn't look so good to whoever you were presenting to, though.

Is it just me, or is it strangely convenient that there's a kimono shop right there when Senpai-san needed to quickly figure out an acceptable way to fulfill Kouhai-chan's desire to make amends? Hell, even Kakyo-san appears to have just been there, too. Is there a cultural festival right next to the company building?

Indeed it wouldn't, especially in Japan where adherence to social decorum is held up as not merely a virtue but as near-holy, at least by the older generation (who tend to form the bulk of Japanese companies' senior managers and other employees of similar influence/importance).
