Astolfo is cannonically nonbinary, so romancing them is technically genderqueer, not gay per se since it's not necessarily same sex.

That's D'Eon. Astolfo's gender whenever it came up is always noted with "made unknown due to personal request", but the official Apocrypha material write him down as male.

Astolfo is canonically a male who crossdresses, that's it. D'Eion is one the few (another is Enkidu) character that can change their gender.
