I thought Stahn was Kyle's dad? Or the other way around? Why are their last names different?

As far as I can tell, it's because Stahn died when Kyle was a boy, and since Rutee wanted to protect him from Stahn's enemy(s), she had him placed in Dunamis orphanage, from which he and his friend Loni took their surnames.
