I know this seems too late for this, but does anyone else find it weird that they made Helena Blavatsky of all people, even if it is a fictional rendition, associated with Christmas?

From what (little) I read about her, it would seem that her life she was dedicated to attempts to stop the imperialistic spread of Christianity (and others) during the old days from consuming and wiping out other cultures. So The fact to make her associated with Christmas (even though it was originally a Pagan Holiday) seems really, really odd. As odd as having someone who is historically Jewish or Roman celebrating Christmas. It'll be like if they suddenly made Karna or Arjuna associated with Christmas...wait...

But jokes aside, it's just really strange even among all the weird and terribly historically inaccuracies that it littered all over the Fateverse.

To be fair, modern day Christmas doesn't have jack to do with Christianity. Regardless of its origins, it's now the single most materialistic and capitalist holiday there is. A lot of cultures have adopted the holiday, and none of them associate it with Christianity. Japan associates it with KFC of all things.

I know, but it's still a bit strange. I guess I'm overthinking it but it's just...weird. Maybe it's just me.

But then again, this is Fate and they care about historical accuracy about as much as they care about continuity so it's not really that big a deal.

I mean is it any less absurd than having Santa Quetzalcoatl or Attila? And throw in Samba or Dumuzid into the mix to fuck up the cultures even further?

I argue that those characters are still in the lines of mythology so whatever goes is whatever goes. Even Atilla/Altera they have established as not really Atilla at all but just some alien

I just wish there was an explanation on why they chose Helena out of everyone else as a representative of Christmas. At least with Karna I read the summary of the event that he thinks of Santa as just a giving man and something about the sun, while flimsy it was still explained as to why he was in the Christmas event(despite being an Indian/Hindi God). Heck, it could even be said it wasn’t about anything Christmas at all but just him wanting to be a good person and Arjuna trolling him.

Was there any specifics of the events from the arcade that they used to explain?

    *Edit

Nevermind. It seems I found out the reason. Helena isn’t really celebrating Christmas but instead just New Years and her name is just a stupid and lazy move from the Devs in putting “Christmas” because it sells or whatever. So the whole of her Character should be more along the line of Helena Blavatsky (New Years/whatever real holiday she’s celebrating) and her having little to nothing to do with “Christmas” at all (although it is something similar). Now it makes more sense. Her title also would have made more sense as Santa too, seriously...God dammit Typemoon...
