Also traditionally, first son have to inherit their house, so the bride have to marry into the groom's house, where they'd very likely to be treat like a servant by the in-laws, while other sons are more flexible and can be married into the bride's family, which means the bride can still live in their house with their old family, and so be more likely to still be treat well.
