My fault then, I guess. The original commentary was literally "Girl Gilgame", which I turned into "Gilgirlmesh" because "girl" fits better phonetically when swapping out "ga" instead of "gil".
Though I suppose visually it fits better for "Gil" instead.

Does it? Gilgirlmesh is super difficult for me to say, "girl" and "ga" are pronounced too differently, while "gil" and "girl" are almost the same.
Ahh, if you're pronouncing it as "Gilgilmesh", then yeah, I can see what you mean. The "r" breaks the flow.
Which, I guess also means, for you "Gilgamesh" and "Girlgamesh" aren't actually any different.
Somewhat different vowels. "Gilguhmesh" vs "Gurguhmesh" (and "Gilgurmesh" for Gilgirlmesh), I suppose. Imagine silent 'r's, just there to change the pronunciation of 'u'.
The middle 'a' in default (English-pronounced) "Gilgamesh" is a lazy 'uh' schwa sound which can be conducive for changing into another vowel for punning purposes. Though not in this case in hindsight, now that you mentioned the far better alternative.
