Not really. Even in-universe there's more than one example of Umas whose parents were Trainer and Trainee. Bourbon's mum and dad, for example.
And while Riko isn't wholly wrong that fraternizing can have negative impacts on an Uma, she's once again going way too far trying to ban it outright when that'll just make the Umas even MORE unhappy.

What they were referring to was that if a coach dates an athlete they mentored in our world, it would generally be seen as grooming behavior, whereas that's not a factor in Uma Musume. It's not hard to draw a parallel of trainer-uma as coach-athlete today. Though yes, even by real world standards, Riko's measures are excessive as well.

I have said it multiple times—fraternization between umamusume and trainers is an unconscionable act. We cannot condone this.Do you not realize we are still but educators in the end?
