    Not only did this line make me laugh so loud my neighbor knocked on my door to tell me to shut up, but I can swear I heard it before and didnt laugh as hard... (perhaps it was just the lead up that made me laugh that hard)

    When Charisma collides with Puberty. Remi's thinking like a young teenager with the ego the size of Jupiter and and imagination the size of Saturn with perverse rings to go with it.

    At first it seems reasonable considering how so many others have Sakuya as a Remi-con, but as soon as it gets to "OH DAMN, PACHU'S MAD!" Remi's clearly losing it.

    No, you can thank the translators for that. As best I can tell the memetic panel is approximately:

    "Damn! I am being surrounded* by intense lesbians without knowing it. The body odor of female animals is filling the room."

    I'm guessing "houi saretoru" is a contraction of "houi sarete oru" which means "I am being surrounded."

    I changed it because ripe with is wrong here. It’s a pretty common mistake, as you can read here and here. Ripe can mean smelly (see number 9 here), but only when it’s by itself, not with with. This source (and only that one) claims that ripe with is correct when ripe means smelly, but that seems more like a cop-out because it’s hard to explain why it’s still wrong. I believe something like ripe from is correct in that case.

    Unfortunately, probably because it’s such a common mistake, nobody noticed this earlier, so everyone already ran with it and the incorrect version became a minor meme on Danbooru. :(

    A more natural-sounding translation might be The room is suffused with the stench of bitches or The stench of bitches has permeated the room or even The stench of bitches fills the entire room!

    I don't like rife for a couple of reasons: the stench is a singular object which rife does not naturally go with; and the original translation has become notable like a Woolseyism, albeit accidentally.

    As a non-native English speaker, I didn't even know rife was a word. 充満 can be translated as being "filled with" | "teeming with" | "pregnant with".

    I would still prefer the use of "ripe", as it is a mistake common enough for most people to ignore it, it is already traditional here, the translation has survived for five years without anybody pointing at that and "ripe" sounds more gross compared to "rife" (as it has absorbed enough bitchiness to be ripe itself).

    If ripe is synonymous with smelly, then "...smelly with the stench of bitches." still sounds fine to me.
    Even ignoring that, I'd argue that this mutation has supplanted the original usage, and should just be accepted as a natural evolution of the language.
    Besides, most of the commenters seem to like the old version better.

    If you absolutely can't live with this, feel free to change it back.

    Just to put my two cents in on the whole ripe/rife issue. It's true that "rife" would be correct. Ripe can be used but it is moderately incorrect with this context. However it can also be argued that this is Remilia's vernacular and is therefore excusable.

    Ripe is more quotable though...

    Rife is the correct word for what the bubble is trying to say. It's saying the room is full of the smell, so, rife. Ripe would also work in an alternate meaning of the English sentence where she meant the room is pungent with the smell, but that's not what is being conveyed in the original text. Changed it back to "rife" because it is correct, as people just argue "ripe" because it's the quote they've known for all these years. It's sort of an accepted mistake in modern language (similar to "begging the question"'s bastardized usage,) but, since it's technically incorrect, I'd say it's proper to not use rife in the translation while continuing to quote it as such isn't a big deal.

    It has never been used for odor, gases, or vapor. Ripe is proper, in the sense of "heavy."

    You're wrong. You cannot say the room is ripe, it would be saying the room itself is what smells. Rife is correct because the room is full of the smell. Rife does not mean a large number of small things. The very example you get if you google it uses "rumor and fear" which ideas similar to a smell. Even if you wanted to be anal about it, smells are small particles of a substance, so the room would be full of a large number of those small particles.

    I know this isn't a big deal and it's been settled but I lover bombergrape and as a grammar nerd, I must correct this thread. The person who changed the note was wrong for editing something that was not a problem but he was right that "rife" is a more suitable word than "ripe" in this context. Here is the only person in the thread who got it right.

    The primary definition of "ripe" means "matured or ready" but it has a secondary meaning, "full of" which exists because it is commonly misused. The primary definition of "rife" is "filled with or abundant" which means "rife" is the most suitable term, "ripe" can be correct in this usage but "rife" is more correct. However since "ripe" has become the commonly used quote it should not be changed since it now has cultural significance and it is still technically correct. There is no real need to change this because is a common mistake so there is no real confusion. Now to address all the people who were wrong.
