A type of chocobo in the Final Fantasy series. In their initial appearances they were chocobos with the ability to fly. Chocobos cannot fly in Final Fantasy VII, but black chocobos traversal capabilities are second only to the gold chocobo, and the black chocobo Teioh/Hyperion is the world's fastest chocobo.
