An alien from Planet Krypton, sent to Earth as a child. His birth name is Kal-El, and his adoptive parents name him Clark Kent.

He is frequently depicted as a rival of Batman in crossover media, primarily due to their contrasting qualities such as Superman's powers compared to Batman's gadgets and their clashing philosophies regarding how to handle a villain.

He was created by the late Joe Shuster and the late Jerry Siegel and was first introduced in Action Comics #1 (1938).
