itoshiki nozomu

Eponymous main character of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

Nozomu is the homeroom teacher of high school class 2-へ ("2-He", or 2-6/2-F in modern notation). His own name, when compressed, spells out "絶望" - "zetsubou" ("despair") - befitting his extremely negative, suicidal personality. When not attempting suicide, he is normally heard complaining about current issues in Japan and abroad.
