titans (gundam)
A fictional military faction from the Gundam mechaverse.
The Titans (ティターンズ Titānzu) are the main antagonists of the Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam anime TV series. They are also featured in Gundam Sentinel and in Advance of Zeta: The Flag of Titans.
They were an elite unit that the Earth Federation established in U.C. 0083 after the conclusion of Operation Stardust. Their original intention was to defend the Earth Federation against supporters and military remnants of the Principality of Zeon, as well as to investigate Zeon sympathizers. However, they employ brutal genocidal tactics against innocent spacenoid civilians from several colonies, what sparks the creation of military resistance groups like the space bound AEUG and the Earth bound Karaba, as the conflict escalates into a full-blown civil war known as "The Gryps War".
The Titans' army eventually grew too big and turned rogue, even allying themselves with Axis Zeon in order to fight against the Anti-Earth Union Group in an attempt to gain control over the Earth Sphere. They lost the support of the Earth Federation and were wiped out by the AEUG at the end of the Gryps Conflict (U.C. 0088), while some of its very few surviving MS pilots joined Neo Zeon or the Federation.
