A lock of white hair on the forehead of traditional Buddhist statues, depicted as a spiral or circular dot.
Also known as báiháo in Chinese or byakugou in Japanese. Note that the term bai hao is also used for the silver hairs on white tea, which are usually called mouji [毛茸] in Japanese.
