The FIFA World Cup is a major international soccer championship held every four years in a different country. The FIFA Women's World Cup is held a year later.

The most recent World Cup, the 2026 FIFA World Cup, was the first World Cup to be hosted by three nations and the first to include 48 teams, an expansion from the previous 32-team format.
