fifa world cup trophy
The trophy awarded to the winner of the FIFA World Cup. Throughout its history, two differently designed trophies have served this purpose.
The first, the Jules Rimet Trophy, was introduced with the first tournament in 1930. Originally named "Victory", it was renamed in honor of the president of FIFA who established the tournament. This trophy served as the World Cup trophy through the 1970 tournament, where winners Brazil were awarded it permanently after becoming first side to win the tournament 3 times. Infamously, it was the subject to two different robberies - in 1966 in England prior to the World Cup here there later that year, and in 1983 in Brazil, from which it was never recovered.
The second design was introduced at the 1974 World Cup and has served as the tournament's ultimate prize since.
