from what i remember, bathtubs are more prohiminent.
you'd normally clean up besides the bathtub and only after cleaning up would you enter the water to relax.

I typically take baths instead of showers at home, so I've made the same mistake while staying at a hotel, forgetting to tuck the curtain into the tub so the water doesn't leak out. <.<

The tubs in traditional bathrooms are recessed into the floor, with shower heads besides them. You wash your body there, and enter the tub only to soak and relax, without carrying suds into the tub water, which you then leave behind for the next person to use the bathroom.

in east asia, there's a drain on bathroom floors, so people don't really care whether water splashes.

Same in Eastern Europe. I'm actually surprised that there's a shower curtain and a... shower place thing. In the hotels I stayed in the countries around here, you just have a toilet, a sink, and a shower head between them.

I've made that mistake a couple of times while at cons. I'm so used to the curtain being tucked in by default that it doesn't even occur to me to check it. Oh well, we all make mistakes, right? (That, and everyone I shared rooms with were usually too hungover in the mornings to notice the extra water, anyway.) At least Kogasa-san has the room to herself, so she doesn't have to worry about making a mess for others!

Wow, I hate it when that happens. When you don't even realize it... it's annoying.

I'd just dump some towels on the floor then wipe.

Leaving the room a mess isn't a japanese thing to do... and more so, I think the first few times he left any sort of mess at home, he might have gotten Sanaelated.

If leaving rooms messy is the way things get done in any country, that might be a bit part of what's wrong with that country.

Some Americans are infamous for basically leaving their hotel rooms absolute disaster areas. And the reason? They know someone else will clean it up.

This is true. I'm honestly not a fan of it either, but when you're sharing a room with nine other people who don't care, well... you tend to deem it not worth it. I actually would clean it up if it was me and a handful of others who were concerned about cleanliness.

All too true, unfortunately. I've roomed with people who were clean, tidy, and organized, and I've roomed with some slobs before, and I can tell you the slobs outnumber the cleanly people 5 to 1.

In fairness, while I wouldn't leave some sort of unreasonable mess, there are some things not worth bothering about.

For example, there's no point making your bed in a hotel. The cleaning crew is going to pull it apart and remake the bed the way that they are obligated to do it regardless of if you leave the blankets in a pile or if you tried to match their way of making the bed exactly.

I think all Japanese people have been here once. That's what I'd like to think! :-)

Reader-added tags include "Yeah, that happens a lot", "You're soaking, Kogasa-san", "A rare scene of Kogasa-san bathing" and "The ability to meet with a flood".

The survey for the day lists:

Top 5 things to bring into the bath
    • Portable video game
    • Portable TV/radio
    • Portable phone
    • Tablet PC
    • Mayor Duck*

*A duck puppet that's the head of Dash Village, from the "Dash Village" segment of the TV series The! Mighty! Dash!! (ザ!鉄腕!DASH!!)

Is it just confirmation bias on my part or do they really like the word DASH in Japan?
