I think it was in the comic "Silent Sinner in Blue" when it was shown Danmaku was edible, and also sweet.

Long time ago I've read doujin, where Reimu used junk food wraps (potato chips, nuts etc) as ofuda (o-food-a pun).

Not every danmaku is food. Some are water droplets, light, frogs, flower petals. Basically anything you can throw can be used.

I think Sunny Milk bounced Yukari's light danmaku about once in Oriental Sacred Place.

Pity about the other 50 different kinds of danmaku that were thrown at her immediately after, though.
