Well yes and no. Single shot wise, a 50. doesn't *quite* knock you backwards because the gun absorbs most of the recoil.

And it does that as a consequence of weighing about 14kg (31lbs)

Trying to line up 14kg worth of gunmetal at shoulder level is... difficult to say the least. So it's pretty much impossible to aim without resting it on something.
