In high school (and entry level college) chemistry there is often a question where one has to figure out the mass of reactants required or the theoretical yield of products. In Asian countries, solving for this usually requires someone to draw a table (like this one) listing out the reaction equation, the stoichiometric coefficients, the number of moles (despite the redundancy with the coefficients), then the mass and/or volumes.

The answer involving the entire table listing the above is usually the canonical answer desired by the "marking answer scheme" (in Asian countries). Students who don't follow this answer pattern (instead opting for the more common "Western" answer pattern of just writing a series of ratio 'fractions') risk getting marks taken off for not showing "complete steps" in their "work", especially if they happen to get an inflexible examiner marking their papers. I was personally hit with this a few times before I cottoned onto it because really, the coefficients already tell you the mole ratios involved, so writing down the number of moles is quite unnecessary and redundant. And the coefficients themselves are also written in the reaction equation, so needing to write them again feels kinda 'ehh'.

Though, admittedly, all of these are a useful sanity check, and helps prevents mistakes like what Tachyon did here (usually what happens is one thinks of one number but accidentally writes down another, or accidentally shifts around some decimal points). It also makes it much easier for examiners to mark answer papers. And for double-checking one's work.

I just recall it was said the real life GolShi is a pretty smart horse. This comic is probably a reference to that.
