So I assume this is the Japanese Giant Hornet on display here, the bane of most bees.

The outcome here is what happens when they decide to attack a Japanese honeybee, which unlike the western honeybee, has actually developed a countermeasure against them. Once spotted, the Japanese honeybees signal the hive via shaking and then mark the invader for death, swarming it and immobilising the hornet in a ball of bees. They then slowly raise the temperature inside the ball as well as suffocating the hornet, which cannot take the increase in temperature (unlike the Japanese honeybee which can survive temperatures up to 50C) and dies.

And it's by a very slim margin that the bees are more heat resistant. Just one or two degrees.

Bees will also do this to their Queen as a sort of "forced retirement" if she ceases to be productive.

The bees' expressionless faces are incredibly amusing to me. Like they're going through a boring procedure for the millionth time.
