It's not uncommon that the originator of the design and the originator of it gaining widespread popularity are two separate people.

I can see why those previous “Brazil Mikus” didn’t catch on. Imo the character design is much better on this recent one.

A lot of the recent fanart is taking inspiration from this one, but it started as a tiktok trend with this (3 days prior)

Still jorts, crop top and tanlines here, but the top is Brazil national team, with white socks, yellow scrunchies instead of earrings, and no white frames on the sunglasses.
Seems that the song and boombox also go more with the tiktok trend than with the art trend version.
