In one of the extra chaper doujins Ai-mentions that she needs to make sure Volley-bu never finds out that she's dating an older guy, because she'd absolutely flip out.
If memory serves me correctly, she is aware that Ai-chan is possibly seeing someone, but has never actually seen him.
Ai-chan has been VERY careful not to mix her school life with her personal life.

Ai keeps her boyfriend a secret cause she knows how super jealous her bestie would get since she's made it clear she's got a massive crush on her.

Volley meanwhile suspects Ai is dating someone but settles for keeping herself as ignorant as she can. A kind of "I want her to be happy even though I really wish it were me she was doing that with" kind of situation.
