I actually wonder if this was kind of inspired by the NES Nightmare on Elm Street game, that did the same thing whenever Freddy (tm) appeared. Pretty fun game for a licensed one made in the NES era, but they really wanted you to know that A Nightmare on Elm Street and Freddy in particular was trademarked whenever they could.

I read this in Snapcube's purposely-bad Subspace Emissary fandub voices and it just makes it a hundred times funnier
