NurseAU!!
I’m addicted to making AUs and not doing anything with them!
This is an alternate universe where Jessie and her friend Chansey ditch the Chansey school together and pursue nursing elsewhere. They eventually succeed and become licensed nurses. However, they run into another issue. Most Pokémon Centers run perfectly fine with one Nurse Joy. They are down on their luck.
James on the other hand was unable to run away from home and is due to marry Jessebelle soon. The only thing that brings him joy is his when he’s allowed off of the estate briefly and brings home Pokémon in need. Finding that he’s unable to properly take care of all the Pokémon he’s taken in due to being constantly busy, he demands that his parents hire a live in Pokémon nurse to help take care of his Pokémon. They hire Jessie and Chansey.
Jessie and James are bit at odds at first but eventually spend more time with one another and get to know each other. They start rescuing Pokémon together and even find a talking Meowth!
As they get closer and James’ wedding day approaches, he suggests that he and Jessie run away together and leave the stuffy estate. Jessie’s extremely torn having worked so hard for a job as lucrative as this, or a job period. Jessie doesn’t understand why James would want to leave his wealth and his family, something she’s never had, and James doesn’t understand why Jessie can’t see that money isn’t everything and that freedom, something he’s never had, is much more valuable. They are at odds AGAIN. What are they to do :0
Jessie:
Jessie is still very hotheaded and full of herself but is much more gentle and optimistic in this AU (very similar to how she’s portrayed in Ignorance is Blissey). She’s very taken by James when she first meets him but is quickly put off by his stand offish personality and also the fact that he’s engaged.
James:
James is more snooty and stand offish in this AU but still has a heart of gold. He longs for freedom but can’t seem to shake his parents or his fiancée.
Meowth:
After not being able to successfully make it as a Team Rocket field agent, Meowth is left to fend for himself and is rejected by most other Pokémon for being so human-like. He’s later picked up and taken care of by Jessie and James. He’s a bit more soft spoken in this AU.
