Purins are easy to get anyway.
Depends on your starting region. Each region can choose three starters, but which starter you get are related to your region. CN region can choose between Nimi, Laffey or Javelin, JP and KR got to choose between Ayanami, Laffey and Javelin. The fourth starter ship needs to be unlocked by max limit breaking the three starter ships-so in that case, Nimi's easy to get if you're on CN/EN server and harder to get on JP/KR server.
Also the four destroyer ships has different focus. Ayanami is torp focus, Nimi is gun damage focus, Laffey is a mixed bag, And Javelin is probably the worst of the four. After the starting levels, gun damage falls behind torp damage, and that's when the special barrage comes to play. Ayanami's high torp stat translates to high amount of damage from the skill trigger even it only launches few torpedos because the other skills she has synergized with the special, compared to Laffey who spams torpedos and AP rounds and has reload-boosting skill.
True. Funny I picked Laffey as starter yet Javelin become my mainstay Destroyer due to how the HMS works...
Also don't forget that Jav had an skill barrage too, although she isn't sound good before retrofitting.
Z23 gets a shield on her retrofit and fits well on an all Z-class German escort team... Yet, she tend to lose on mvp against Z46 or Z19 (any other Zestorer)
