She didn't live a long life. Right after being involved in WW2, she followed carrier task forces from Marshall to Midway. Serving as the anti-aircraft fire of the task force, she covered both Yorktown and Lexington with her powerful machine guns. She also served as the flagship of TF-17 in the battle of Midway after Yorktown was abandoned.
In August she was sunk in the battle of Savo island,together with 2 other heavy cruisers. She might seem less significant than other ships in the fleet, but I'll remember her.
