Thats way too small to be a Baneblade, or its a really big mutant commissar.

Don't Space Marines have Baneblade variants of their own? Maybe Chapter Master Cosplaius wanted to dress up as a Comissar, and who's gonna tell him no?

EDIT: That said, the green uniform seems less 'Commissar' to me, and more Cadian officer. They get peaked caps too, last I recall.

It's 40K. That's all the answer you need.

Well its riveted, and its a bad idea yes but casting is difficult and welding was really expensive and difficult, so riveting it was.

Plus its WH40K, sanity is kind of at a premium.

Rivets are less chaotic. They are very orderly.

Riveted or Chobham armor, that kind of armor does jack all against a concentrated blast from a couple of Fusion Blasters. Or god forbid, a shot from a Volcano Lance.

Don't even get me started on that squad of Tactical Marines with Thunder Hammers.

Considering the size of the tank to the size of the officer, this looks more like a Leman Russ than a Baneblade.

I don't think Yukari really ever was that picky, she seemed to get equally excited with any tank she'd never seen in person before. If it had slabs of metal and a working engine she'd get hot and bothered.

Rule of cool is a thing, I like a well designed efficient machine but I LOVE things like the TOG II*, T28/T95 and the Tortoise which are anything but.

No they dont. They use Land Raiders.

Baneblades are like the icon of the Imperium Guard. Probaby the tank officer is just tall.

The Space marine Legions Did use Baneblades ( or at least a variant) back before the Heresy when they were more of a Sledgehammer than the QRF they are today.

Space Marines have the Fellblade, which is a Great Crusade/Horus Heresy era superheavy based off the same STC chasis as the Baneblade.

Maybe tanks designs with our meager understanding of the Omnissah's Glory, but to the truly Enlightened, the more fucking rivets and bolters you can strap to a box, the closer you are to the God-Emperor.

The Fellblade is a Space Marine variant of the Baneblade, but they're extremely rare since most of them were destroyed during the Horus Heresy.

Those are actually bonding studs, which are basically something which is used to bond two items together at the molecular level.

The most famous example would be in MK5 Heresy Power Armor.

I think most tanks from the forge world Lucius use a lot of riveting.
