As far as I understand, all birds are allergic to avocado --- no doubt true; however it follows a general pattern of instruction from on high that any food traditionally fed to birds is poisonous to them, such as rice or bread.
Which leads to a suspicion that some people really, really don't want birds to be fed at all.
