She only ever cared about Andrew. She originally left him to die with Ashley because she thought he was too far gone then started to feel guilty and went back for him. She absolutely hates Ashley and wants her dead though.

Don't forget that part of the reason Ashley turned out the way she did is because neither parent could be bothered dealing with her, let alone properly raise her, and they just had Andrew take care of her.

While this is fair, it's pretty clear from flashbacks that she was always a sociopath. Plus, the encounters with the demon would suggest that she was just born with an evil soul. There's only so much you can do when you give birth to some kind of mentally deranged demon daughter.
