Wishing for artifacts in a Monolith is a bit like shopping with your memories. You ascend to the top, place your hand on the wishing box, pay with your memory, and make your wish. In response, the Monolith grants you an artifact.

Artifacts are wondrous objects capable of performing feats that only advanced magic could achieve. The great convenience they afford the Novians has led them to overlook the fact that obtaining them requires memories, or ponder how they even work.

After all, many regard the Monoliths and their artifacts as divine favors.
