My theory is because of the global release making the series more well known. These are likely from artists outside Japan.

More like can't stop the deluge from west (and korean) artists.

In the past the Yakuza hired some hacker to find a japanese artist's location from abroad. But if they went after a foreign one, then shit would have to get real cause now it's a national conflict.

I would have paid a lot of money to have this turn into a side quest in Yakuza 8.
"Ichiban, there's a racehorse owner here in Japan who needs you to go rough up some nerd-ass artist in not-Honolulu. Fine hundred bucks in it for you if you can get him to stop drawing porn."

Jokes aside, "yakuza" don't really had that kind of power you know, also they can't venture in countries that have groupes like mafia, triad or etc. Wanna hound an artist that is living somewhere or who is a friend of a powerful criminal group? good luck getting in

Although in Japan you pretty likely might get harrased by random people.

Also imagine wasting time and energy in the internet to hound down people that draws lewds, they do this already with real people but nothing happen so this is just clownshow. the only worse thing happens if just your social account getting nuked due to reports but that is from obvious white-knights.
