I do think it appears extraorbitant if it's in USD, perhaps true it's in another currency. At a similar ratio, the additional prices do make sense though

Edit: Wow the Tweet's replies say it's worth right. Don't feel so even as an artist, guess too many of us just underpriced the treasure or in a good sense just giving chance for more people to commission us

Comparable artists I've seen tend to charge somewhere around $150-200 for single-character commissions. $300 is on the pricey side, but if you think it's exorbitant, I guess you've never had to hire a plumber or electrician. Professional artists are skilled workers and their fees reflect that. If an artist's work is of consistent quality and their talents are in high demand, a rate of $40-50 an hour is not unreasonable for a job that takes several hours to complete.

Yeah, I commissioned art from an artist when she was selling for around 150-250 bucks, nowadays I believe she is taking it closer to 400-500 due to lot of people want her to do work. Am I sad about not being able to reasonably afford her? Yes. Am I happy she is doing this well? Definitely.

It all depends on balancing price with amount of applications and willing payers. First start relatively cheap or reasonable and then gradually increase the price as more people learn about you. Ofc good idea to avoid going too far and one needs to have unbiased opinion of their own art quality.

I have commissioned from an artist that asked for the exact same price as the artist I mentioned above and I would say that one's quality is more on the... 75 buck cost level? That is the very highest I can that one at. Though I do hope they have improved and doing decently. Just won't ever recommend anyone to them.
