It came out that the story at launch was written up in like six weeks before release in part because the director kept bullying writers out of the studio, which is why the game story is only barely like the sci-fi Darkest Dungeon the early trailers promised. Also in the Korean script the girls showed more care for Owen than the MC even when he was seriously injured, but that was more the symptom that led to the discovery of the disease.

The game's CEO wanted to push his own narrative over the team of writers who were quite good at it, they left after the workplace harassment/bullying and the CEO made a poll between his version and the writers version of the story where the CEO "won" lmao

After writer quit, they also left a time bomb to show how shitty the version of the CEO is, which basically was an hostile takeover where the main protagonist is sidelined and treated like literal trash by all female characters and like marcimal said to the point of making his own Self Insert character Louis (the Ichimaru look alike character) to pair him up with Renoa one of the most important heroines in the game when it started with leaks confirmed it was CEO Kim's creation.

It got so bad Owen, a brat who got possesed got more attention after being released from the possesion by every character in the scene while the frigging protagonist was bleeding on the floor dying.(now he is joke character used for NTR)

The game had a good gameplay so naturally players also wanted a good story plot and what they found was CEO's self insert fantasy akin to those edgy kids who make their original characters in fan fiction where the protagonist gets clowned, side lined or outright removed by the fanfic writer to instert their cool new shiny character as the new protag.

CEO couldn't even deny it because ingame files, inside info and leaks wouldn't allow him to ran from this one so he made a public apology and promised to do an overhaul of the whole story next year.

What were the consequences if you ask? Quite much

1. Withdrew from 2025 Anime X Game Festival (AGF), Korea's largest anime/gaming convention
2. Game vanished from Google Play KR revenue charts days post-launch due to whales quitting over story betrayal. Devs felt pushed to do damage control because the game was getting good recepction at Global and global players didn't know what was coming next from the story that KR already did.
4. Many KR influencers paused coverage or just stopped giving it attention (killed your PR basically)

The damage control is fairly better than what the idiots devs from Stella Sora who didn't bother fixing after fans reception, KR still has lingering feelings of doubt but the game is kind okay now (stamina system still sucks).
