He's supposed to. They cut off a finger so the blade can pop out.

You're correct Altair. :) The artist has it on the top of the wrist instead of the bottom, and the armored bracer is on the wrong arm. Bizarre considering the amount of official art they do.

It's part of the whole "initiation" if you will. As mentioned above, they customarily lopped off his finger so that when he activates the blade, it comes out rather easily with no real threat of harm to the wielder.

Altairs left hand is grotesquely misshapen. Its like its swollen or something.

His pinky finger is shadowed. It's in the dark. Look really close.

And his hand is swollen from punching people.

Altair ain't got shit on Samus or Snake.
