As far as I can tell there's a new series coming, and Rara and Applehat aren't in it.

Isn't the new system better mathmatically speaking, at least for F2P?
Does it also apply to whales?
I'm still speculating until we actually get a video that shows how the mechanics work, from what I believe is that it may detrimental for players that wanted to maxed out some of the characters during their banners, players usually do that during fest whenever they already got their fest unit, they would still attempt to finish the 200 spark in able to obtain a dup that they can use to enhance the character. This mechanic pretty much discourage that and would rely on heavily on luck if they wanted to max out that character from the banner.

It's marginally better mathematically, and only under the assumption that you aim for a single character and stop as soon as you get a single copy of that character.
But BA always releases new characters in pairs, and that's not accounting for reruns. The spark system allowed you to get one character in 200 pulls or less, and then either spark another copy or spark one of the other rated up characters.
The new system doesn't allow you to do either of these things, and significantly increases the odds of going over 200 pulls if you're aiming for more than one character. The worst case scenario for the spark system is having to spark both new characters, but that would mean you went dry in 400 pulls, which almost never happens. More realistically, you get one character somewhere in 100-300 pulls, and then you spark the other character. And that's assuming your luck is on the lower end, and you fail the 75% chance to get a banner character in 200 pulls.
The new system forces you to gamble on two 50/50 chances if you want both characters in the same 200 pulls that previously would have almost guaranteed both. Before, if it took you 190 pulls to get one character, you only need 10 more pulls for the second character. Now, if you get screwed and get one character at 190, the second character is going to take 100-200 more pulls unless you get extremely lucky, totaling nearly twice as many pulls in an otherwise identical scenario.
The new system doesn't help F2P at all. The only people it benefits are people that have no impulse control and roll on every banner. If you save and plan your rolls, this system doesn't help you at all.

Haven't they adjusted something down to 160? What about that?

The simplification from Nexon's official statement.

I'm just gonna have to fucking guess what you mean, because it seems like you don't actually know anything about what's going on so I don't know why you're even commenting on it.
They didn't "adjust" anything down. Everything is exactly the same, except now there's no Spark and you have a 50/50 chance to get the banner character at 100 pulls and 100% chance to get them at 200 pulls.
Something they're doing, and this is what I assume you're referring to, is a milestone system that gives you materials after doing a certain number of pulls, which includes 10-pull tickets. These tickets effectively "refund" some of your pulls, so 200 pulls is really 160 pulls, and 400 pulls is really 320 pulls.
This sounds cool, but it's a one-time thing. They're only doing that for this event. So it doesn't matter.

A recent change to the pity system that made it a lot less generous.
See blue archive gacha update and comment #2618200 for more details.
The Hoyo pity system is so ass. Sure, you're guaranteed your character of choice earlier (in theory), since Hoyo games themselves guarantee a five star at 90 pulls, thus needing 180 at most, and pity carries over between banners, but sparking is still better overall because it isn't affected by the results of your pulls.
You could get the mythical double five star pull and you would still keep building pity towards a different character.
Just because Hoyo gets away with it doesn't mean other companies have to copy it, see OG Arknights vs Endfield.
And the devs actually changing the system for an existing game is not only scummy beyond belief, it also sets a terrible precedent for other companies to follow.
Hopefully the backlash will be enough to unfuck the situation.

Considering who is now leading the charge for the company trying to increase their bottom line?
I'm very doubtful they'll listen.
OG Nexon might balk under the backlash but an EA CEO?
They'll just double down on it.
Great example of rather than just increasing your bottom line you wind up destroying it.

And then there's Fate/Go. What it is now, something like 351 pulls before your guarantee? And there's 0 guarantee for 4*.
There are some that are thankfully kind to their players and can even be successfully played F2P but yeah most get blinded by that greed.

Official Design for fairy???
I donโt think so. The wiki entry (the question mark next to the character tag) says that the humanoid design is fanmade. Technically that doesnโt stop them from declaring it official, but that is doubtful given that someone else would own the design and they probably would need to either purchase or license the rights to the design.

Officially fanmade if that's a thing.
It comes from a HoYoFair song,
Dig down!! so, officially commissioned by the company, but it isn't in any way cannon and won't be in the game.

They were actually doing fine, at least as far as BA is concerned, until they hired former EA CEO Mr. "Charge real money to reload your gun"
Only after Nexon hired him did BA suddenly start making a lot of bad turns

>Implying Nexon doesn't do this shit all the time with their IP
Anyone who honestly tries to act like this never would have happened if Sรถderlund never came on needs to lay off the corporate farts. Pre-release people were dreading what kind of MTX hell BA would be purely because it was a Nexon game. Also remember that in the very early days before global you needed 300 pulls to spark. That Nexon had waited 5 years before taking the mask off and altering the deal is honestly a surprising display of restraint from them.

Bro I dunno what point you're trying to make like anything you said disproves anything I said. I didn't imply shit, put words in your own mouth, not mine.
BA JP launched with 300 pull Spark, then they changed it to 200, and Global launched with the revised 200, and regularly receives any other QoL updates JP gets earlier than when JP got them. The BA devs on multiple occasions listened to the fans' criticisms. BA also WASN'T the MTX hell people expected it to be, and stayed that way up until Soderlund joined the company. Only after he joined did we start getting battlepasses and this new gacha system downgrade.
Western players might be familiar with a reskinned version called President, which itself was adapted from Daifugou or the equivalent Chinese card games. There's also some brand name variants like The Great Dalmuti and Dilbert's Corporate Shuffle.
(Swedish used to have a... uh... not-so-politically-correct name for it too.)
